Insure your electric bicycle

OpGroen's bicycle insurance offers you a number of important benefits:

  • Breakdown assistance also from home address.
  • 5% deductible of the insured amount in case of theft.
  • For e-bikes up to €4,500, there is a 20% discount on theft coverage when GPS protection is used.
  • New bike stolen within 3 years? We reimburse you for a new one.
  • Battery insured at purchase value for the first 3 years in case of theft and total loss.
  • € 50 excess in case of damage.

Cover for your e-bike

Theft

If your e-bike is stolen, having taken out theft insurance for your e-bike can be very wise. With this cover, you are fully insured against theft of your e-bike. If your bicycle is stolen in the first three years after purchase or if you suffer damage due to attempted theft, we will reimburse the purchase value. An excess of 5% of the insured amount applies to theft of the bicycle. In case of theft of parts, an excess of € 50 applies.

Damage

Is your bicycle damaged in the first five years by a fall or collision? Then we compensate the damage. If your bike is total loss in the first five years due to vandalism or a collision, we compensate the new-for-old value (including battery and accessories). With an e-bike, damage to the battery due to falling or bumping is also insured. With this coverage, an excess of € 25 applies.

Additional coverages for your electric bike

Road assistance

Do you have a breakdown with your bicycle? With the additional road assistance coverage, we help you get back on the road as quickly as possible. If we can't fix it immediately, we will take you home and take the bicycle to the bicycle repair shop. You will also receive help if your electric bike breaks down from your home address.

Recovery assistance

Have you suffered damage to your e-bike as a result of a traffic accident? And is the fault (partly) with the counterparty? Then we will recover this damage from the other party for you.

Accident insurance

We hope it never happens to you. But suppose you become fully or partially disabled or even die as a result of an accident with the bicycle, then you or your relatives will receive a compensation.

What type of lock do you need for your e-bike cover?

Make sure you use a proper lock to keep your bike safe. Bicycle insurance with theft cover requires an ART-approved lock, as these offer good protection against theft.

Here are some tips for extra security for your bike:

  • Attach at least two different locks, of which at least one (ART-approved) must be attached to a fixed object. Secure the locks as high as possible.
  • Make your bicycle less attractive to thieves, for example by putting a plastic bag over the saddle.
  • Park your bike somewhere with people around, such as a bus stop, as thieves prefer not to be seen.
  • A track&trace system approved by Kiwa SCM is convenient and mandatory for e-bikes over €4,500.
